HepB Vaccination for Occupational Reasons

Under Health & Safety legislation employers have a duty to provide a safe working environment. Employers & Universities should undertake a risk assessment and arrange protection for employees & students, including, where necessary, immunisation against Hepititis B. If an assessment reveals a risk the employer or university has a duty to act and should make arrangements with a suitably qualified medical service to meet the relevant obligations.

This Practice is not aware of the situation and hazards in your employment workplace or university and does not have occupational expertise to advise on the risks involved.

It is therefore inappropriate for us to proceed with any occupational immunisations and that you should request your employer or university refer you to an occupational health specialist who will assess your vaccination requirements.

The NHS does not fund hepititis immunistions for employment purposes and it is your employers responsibility to fund this through an occupational health service or other appropriate service.
